Forced Amish

The electric in my neighborhood was turned off yesterday while they replaced some transformer doohickey. So from 8 AM to 3 PM I was forced to be Amish. They warned us last week. Mailed a postcard and whatever but did I remember? Nope.

There I stood butt naked flicking the switch of my hair dryer back and forth and cursing. I eventually figured it out. Soooo I had to air dry my hair which made for a seriously interesting look. As if my normal look isn't wild and crazy enough it was like Medusa meets the Electric Chair. This was the beginning of my cruddy day...

Then I realized that I can't get online. Not good. Two of my three part time jobs rely on computer access. So I head to Starbuck's for free wifi. I worked there for 2 hours and then came home where I continued my miserable day.

I melted... no air, no fan. It was the upper 90's with no breeze.

I couldn't open the fridge to get a drink or food because I didn't want to let the cold out/heat in.

I realized every phone in my house runs on electric and my cell phone was (as usual) needing to be charged.

Yeah basically the day stunk and I do NOT know how the Amish do it.

As soon as the electric came back on I made a batch of this...

Shelly's Mochachinno Almond Protein Ice Cream

1 cup Vanilla Soy Milk (or Regular Milk)
1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder
1 scoop Click Espresso Protein Powder
1 Tablespoon Sugar Free Torani Syrup (I used SF White Chocolate)
2 Tablespoons Slivered Almonds, lightly toasted

Mix together milk, protein powders and syrup together. I used this gadget to mix it up. It makes it airy and lump free. Pour into ice cream maker. Follow your machine's instructions for freezing. 5 minutes before done add the nuts. You can eat it right away it is soft serve-ish but I like to put it in the freezer to set for an hour or so.

Note: If you don't have Click. Get some. It's seriously a must for coffee addicts. They are offering a deal buy 2 tubs, get free shaker and free shipping. Use promo code: OBH

Seriously you know I realized yesterday that I was a slave to technology. It's really bad. I need a few weeks in the mountains, catching fish and cooking it on an open fire. Which really does sound delightful... roaring camp fire, lawn chairs, starry skies, sipping cocoa (SF of course), I need someone to cuddle with and the picture is complete. :(

Highlights of the day:

* I bought a new coffee maker. It's a 12 cup. My little 4 cup was not cutting it. I know. I drink too much coffee. Don't follow my lead. I'm a bad, bad girl.

* I made a really yummy baking experiment this morning. Watch for the recipe and porn later in the day. It's a great breakfast item.

* It's the first week of school for a lot of kids... which made me nostalgic for school days but then I started to think of mean teachers, homework, fitting in, detention (I was a bad bad girl then too) and I realized I was really only nostalgic for a new outfit and freshly sharpened pencils ;)

wow - only you would come up with a killer icecream with medusa hair (LOL). I know you have the starbux account from past posts (and thx for letting me know about the discount on syrups: now I order an "iced skim latte with SF vanilla & SF caramel syrup" instead of SF Skinny Iced Caramel Macchiato, and I now order an "iced skim latte with SF cinnamon syrup & SF vanilla syrup" instead of a SF Skinny Iced Cinnammon Dolce Latte! -Michelle (MmishNotMush)

Sorry for your cruddy "forced" Amish day. Technology creeps up on us and sucks us into it's electric vortex. And I see you went out and bought some more technology, that produces caffiene, no less. You are too funny!

I would love to go camping under the stars and cook my own fish I caught. And sorry to rub it in, but I already have my someone to cuddle with by the roaring fire. I truly hope and pray that you find your certain someone sometime soon!!

And did you LOVE the smell of a new box of 64 crayons??!?!?!

All of my family and friends are jealous of my new addiction....protein ice cream. And I took your suggestion and ordered a second freezer bowl.

My mom LOVES the Amish, the simple life....but take her hair dryer away and she'll do a popular Bee "floor stomp, or slamming of the doors" or she will yell a nasty 4 letter word as she trys to hit the switch to turn on the lights! Lol! I am glad that you got through it. I am VERY dependant on ELECTRIC and Technology. Sucks for us I sppppose! LOVE THE DISH Thou. You seriously ROCK with Yumm Yumm's!!
Stay well my friend!
