I went to the Farmer's Market this morning. I didn't stay long. I just kind of ran around to my favorite sellers. I went on a squash buying binge. Wanna see?
Those little yellow tomatoes are sweeter than candy and are going in a bean salad this week. The giant white Maui onion... no clue what I will do with it but I couldn't pass it up. Of course I got my Mum her fruit bread. I also bought a bag of peaches which somehow didn't make the picture. I dropped everything home and Mum and I headed west.
Seems like it's been a while since I've been to the beach and I really needed my zen zone. This was an emotional week (both good and bad.) Here's one of the bad... I'll share this because some of my fellow Dr. A success stories that read the blog may know him. Bambi (Dr. A's driver) lost his fight with cancer. He was one of my angels on this journey and now he's an angel in heaven. :(
We stopped at the Forum Shops first. I don't actually buy much just oooh and ahhh mostly (favorite stops Sur La Table, Anthropologie, Borders). I went in Jimbo's (Natural Market) too. I was looking for a few products on my must find and try list. I was SOL on most but I did score a ChocoPerfection Bar finally. Yum... it's basically big hunka chocolate bar. I'll bet it would kick butt all chopped up in a batch of Protein Ice Cream... Mmmm I'm thinking Chocolate Chocolate Chip!?! Mum snapped a pic of me sitting in front of the store.
On to the beach. We found some great parking and took off on foot. We ended up walking 10 miles! No joke. The only real break we took was a pit stop at Starbuck's. So yeah... good day. I do have a bit of a headache though... a bit too much sun and not enough water I think.
Highlights of the day:
* Walked 10 miles and most of it was staring at the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Heaven on earth.
* Bought a super cool kooky owl bottle opener at an antique store we stopped at at some point in the day. Wanna see?
I heart wise owl things. You've seen my owl bags right?
Owl Bag #1
Owl Bag #2
and here's a close up of Owl Bag #3 (never blogged this one)
* Hey look what I grew...
Yeah not quite enough for a bottle of vino but not bad for a first effort. I predict by next year I will be stomping around in a barrel like Lucy.
