As a kid I remember squealing with excitement seeing the sign in the window of McDonald's announcing that the Shamrock Shake, a nuclear green, mint-flavored milkshake, sold each year to celebrate St. Patrick's Day had returned. Here's my healthier version, a perfect way to start March.
Shelly's Shamrock Protein Shake
8 oz. Vanilla Soy Milk
1 scoop of Vanilla Protein Powder
1 1/2 Tablespoons Sugar Free Peppermint Torani Syrup
a few drops of Green Food Coloring
3-4 Ice Cubes
Optional: SF Land o Lakes Whipped Cream
Blend on high. I served it with a squirt of SF Land o Lakes Whipped Cream.

So is your March coming in like a lion or a lamb? It's a beautiful lamb-y day here. I have a busy morning hence the quick shake breakfast but I'm hoping to get outside in this sunshine for lunch and a walk this afternoon. We've been getting our fair share of rain lately so my daily walks (my major form of post weight loss surgery exercise) have not been as long. I've missed them. They are my time to clear my head. Those days when I can't get out I've been just turning on the music and dancing or lately its been me attempting to Zumba. I can not follow steps at all. On the DVD everyone is going left, I'm going right, their arms are up, mine are down, I'm a big ole' mess but I sweat so I guess that is all that matters in the end, right?
