You are the cutest!! I have a few questions for you Shelly and don't know where to "ask" them. I'm 3 weeks post-op RNY and I wonder if you are ever able to GULP your water? I was super thirsty tonight 80 degrees and gulped my water (forgetting) and threw up! What the heck do we do when we're really thirsty? Ugh!

Oh and btw: I LOVE all of your recipes! Super helpful for me right now- Thank you!! - Love your blog!!

Congrats Jennifer you have mail.

Mardi :) you know that was one of my BIG concerns too that's funny... so gulp yes, guzzle no... within a year or so you can take a bigger sort of gulp (mouthful) vs those sips in the beginning... stuff is swollen and healing and sips are about all that can be handled for a few weeks for most of us... but soon you either don't realize it or do and suddenly you can have a bigger mouthful... I sort of know how much I can handle and unconsciously drink now. It becomes normal again. Now I can't continuously guzzle... think of us like a funnel... we flow through but you can't go THAT fast... when I am really thirsty a gulp, wait a few seconds another gulp, etc. Hope this helps. It's 4 AM so it sounds clear to me LOL but ;)

Hi...I'm really enjoying the blog and recipes. I'm 7 weeks post-op from having my RNY and I'm tolerating food really well. Too well I'm afraid. I've lost 19 pounds since surgery and I seem to have stopped loosing. I was loosing a pound every other day, but for the past week I've stayed the same weight.

Have you or anyone else had this experience?

Hey Kim, Glad you are enjoying the blog. It's a pretty typical time to see scale stall... your body is just realizing its not going to get the same fuel (food & drink) it's used to so it's going to try and hold on for dear life to the fuel (fat) it has in stores. Think bears in winter. It can't last given the input but it is frustrating. It'll happen a few times as you are in the losing phase. I had one that lasted a month. Take measurements... when the scale stops it's usually shifting and your measurements will tell that story. I think its normal to freak out a bit... we have all been on so many "diets" in the past and failed we can't imagine when something will finally work for us so when we stall a bit our old fears creep in. Concentrate on healthy choices, moving the body every day and working on all the why's of why you gained weight (those don't go away with the pounds) Those are the things you can control. Try and remember this is for life... when you hit your goal weight, you wake up the next day to more of the same so make changes you can live with forever.
