I picked up curbside takeaway at Outback Steakhouse for my Mum and I. The original order was 2 Filet Mignon's with a Madeira wild mushroom sauce, I asked for mine with sauce on the side, that way I could add the amount I wanted. Mum's order was as it came with Garlic Mashed & Veggies on the side and mine was Double Veggies. Mum ate hers (non-op belly) and I, of course, had leftovers. I know my capacity pretty well now so I removed the items from my portion right away.
The veggies became these super yummy Eggface Bites (crustless quiches) that will be breakfast or lunch for days.
1 Yellow Onion, diced
2 Green Onions, diced
1 cup (approximately) Cooked Veggies, minced
1/2 cup Colby Jack Cheese, grated
2 Tablespoons Feta Cheese, crumbled
5 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
1/2 teaspoon ground Marjoram (don't omit or sub trust me)
a few twists of Black Pepper
Preheat oven to 350. Saute onions till golden. Set aside to cool. Whiz leftover veggies in a mini food processor till minced.
Here's how to make Tortilla Pizzas.
So next time you are at a restaurant ask for a box, bring home those leftovers and turn them into something yummy.

Oh. My. Gosh! Those look SO good!
(I'm on day 7 of pre-op diet..)
Hugs,

You're very clever pulling that out of the hat with leftovers. Nicely done (and yum looking and tasting too no doubt, to boot!)
curious,
do you ask for a take home box before you eat when you go out? Or do you divide stuff on your plate, and ask for a box at the end of your meal? Im still trying to figure the eating out thing....
Again, your stuff is so helpful, especially the photos, really helps with portion control
thank so much, sandi
I ask for it in the beginning usually... it saves the "did you not like it?, was everything OK?" q's when I only eat 1/2 or less. I usually say... "I'd like a xyz menu item and can I have a box with it? I'm not too hungry I'm gonna take a bit home."
When appropriate of course... with family and pals versus the boss LOL ;)
Ok so I'm sort of drooling over the steak part. I've been craving a good steak lately. Or at least a few bites of one.
I haven't done a lot of eating out since surgery but have been fairly thankful in most cases to order off the kids menu. Granted the choices there aren't always the best but the few times I've went out it's worked.
Well personally I have no problem telling wait staff or the restaurant manager that I had bariatric surgery and that I can't eat as much...they are more than compliant...even let me eat off the kiddie menu sometimes! But yes I do like the idea of asking for a box when I'm ordering...makes tons of sense....
