Heads Up: Premier Protein Costco Coupon and Getting More Active

I am new to the wearable fitness tracker world. I'm a couple of weeks into my wearing my Fitbit HR and I'm in love. Thank you to Premier Protein for providing it and for helping me with my 2016 commitment is to be more active. The first step in getting more active is really understanding how active you actually are. Two of my favorite features so far are the activity reports you can have emailed to you and the silent alarm feature.

The silent alarm uses vibration to alert you at times specified, you can set it for up to 8 times a day. I'm using it to remind me to get up and move around during my mostly seated work hours. It's like an invisible coach giving you a nudge... hey get up, it's time to move! For those of you that attended the Your Weight Matters National Convention in 2014 you'll remember that fun speaker Dr. James Levine who explained how we need to get up more through the day because "our chairs are killing us" and shared his research on how our sedentary lifestyles are contributing to obesity and other negative health effects.

The weekly reports Fitbit sends via email are great. You can store the data and compare your weeks which really helps you see how you are progressing toward your goals. I was sick last week so it was interesting to see the major activity drop and then the past few days as I re-entered the land of the living. Seeing my activity data in black and white helped me aim for a little better than the day before. I also love the badges you get for reaching certain goals. The other day I got one for climbing stairs. It reminds me of Girl Scout badges. I was super proud of my stairs badge that day. I know... I'm a goober.

You can also choose to be more social and compete in challenges with pals. I haven't tried that yet. I'll report back from time to time and let you all know how it's going and any fun features I mess with.

Heads up to fellow Premier Protein fans (and Costco members) you still have a few days to get in on this month's Costco coupon book deal and score $5 off  Premier Protein shakes through this Sunday 1/24. Perfect for taking with you on a walk or hike and logging those steps.

Looks like vanilla is the most popular at my Costco. I just made a great shake the other day with vanilla. Oh how I was loving this shake last week when I was feeling like crud (upper respiratory, sinus, ear) it was so soothing on my throat.

I absolutely love your shake recipes! I use other protein mixes that are only protein isolates. That is my one issue with Premier Protein. They are yummy though.
I just purchased my first fitness tracker as well. The Garmin Vivosmart. I was torn between that and the Fitbit. Keep on inspiring us !

Question? It was my understanding that WLS patients need a fast absorbing protein with 100% whey isolate. Premier protein is a blend isn't it? Is this something we should be drinking?

I'm saving up for a Fitbit Charge HR right now. Reading your blog only solidified my decision :) That shake looks SO good! I wish I had a vanilla shake laying around to make it with, but I currently only have chocolate :( Awesome post! Thank you Shelly!❤️

Yes, my understanding is whey isolates absorb the easiest for us... but I get my protein from a variety of sources... meat, eggs, cheese, protein powders, bars, shakes some of those shakes & bars are 100% isolate some are blends... any protein you actually consume is great in my book... I've bought some and LOL they sat on a shelf because I couldn't get them past my nose ;)

If you are needing more whey... add it... scoop of powder in the shake recipe :) certainly in the early months I would add a little.

When in doubt always ask your bariatric team.

Rochelle, I'm really enjoying it... the HR is the larger bangle sort of style... the Flex is thinner (no HR Heart or sleep tracking I think is the other difference) the one is a clip on sort of bra or belt... I'd lose those in the toilet LOL I know it.

The Flex does tract sleep. It doesn't monitor heart rate or have the time on it.

Thanks Kathy.

Know anyone who has the brand new MicroSoft fitness tracker? It's expensive ($250, I think) but includes an option to get workouts on it (I think you select/watch the workout demos on pc then get bullet list on the watch/tracker). Looked pretty cool but I found my fitbit useless (weight training didn't register at all (sedentary) - but carrying itty bitty weights to the rack registered as INTENSE).

I got a FitBit for free but returned it once I realized that, like others, it was really only based on arm movement.

Good luck with yours!! I hope it works out well for you!

I've been thinking of getting a fit bit and I think I'll take the plunge once I get my bonus at work. I'd love to see a detailed review of it.

As another option- you can get these same shakes at Sam's Club for just over $16! At least in my area. I actually use these drinks as the base for my protein drinks that I had BiPro and greek yogurt, fruit and some almond milk. It's definitely a protein packed drink!
