A day in my pouch

A day in my pouch is a series of blog posts (I try and post them every few days) to show what a typical daily menu looks like in my post weight loss surgery world. This actually wasn't a typical day. I usually cook up a storm but yesterday was all about easy. I had a ton of errands, cleaning, projects to do and just needed quick protein.

Breakfast: About 1/2 of an Atkins Breakfast Bowl. These are pretty darn tasty. I think they are a Walmart exclusive right now. I have yet to see them in any other store. FYI: Look around online I've had $1 off coupon every time I've purchased them so they ended up being about $1.50.

Lunch: I got a planned later start to the Farmer's Market. I had some errands to run and wanted those stores to be nearer to opening. Our Farmer's Market has some great food vendors. Since it was near lunch I bought BBQ Chicken Skewers for lunch. Mum and I split these and there was still leftover. I rarely partake because I usually go so early, chicken for breakfast doesn't really appeal to me. I took advantage.

Take a look next time you are at a Fair or Farmer's Market, they get a bad rap for being full of deep fried scary options (and they have those for sure) but there's actually plenty of foods that are weight loss surgery friendly or adaptable (salads topped with grilled shrimp or chicken or gyros, chicken or beef skewers, ceviche cups, sausages, a BBQ place comes once and awhile that makes a version of moink balls - I have the best luck at Greek or Middle Eastern vendors.) There is something about eating outside in the sunshine, people watching. Little things.

I also bought a bag of Applewood Smoked Almonds for a snack for the week and sampled a few as we walked. So good.

Dinner: Easy night. I had planned to freezer dive and eat some stored leftovers (I think I have some mini meatloaves in there) but I wasn't in the mood so dinner was Cold Cuts and Red Pepper Strips with Greek Yogurt Dip (just plain yogurt and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.) I love Boar's Head brand cold cuts (look for there low sodium line.)

Snacks: Too much coffee and a got a sample of the newest Quest Protein Bar in the mail. OMG. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I ate 1/2. It is exactly chocolate chip cookie dough. 8 seconds in the microwave and it was ooey gooey delicious.

More days in my pouch

I'm making up for the lack of cooking yesterday with a ton of cooking today. While the Super Bowl plays in the background I'm going to prep some meals for the week. Some chopping of veggies. I've got some tried and true casseroles planned and a few wacky experiments.

Hope your team wins ;) Oh and tune in later today for the start of some BIG Fun!
