Forced Amish

The electric in my neighborhood was turned off yesterday while they replaced some transformer doohickey. So from 8 AM to 3 PM I was forced to be Amish. They warned us last week. Mailed a postcard and whatever but did I remember? Nope.

There I stood butt naked flicking the switch of my hair dryer back and forth and cursing. I eventually figured it out. Soooo I had to air dry my hair which made for a seriously interesting look. As if my normal look isn't wild and crazy enough it was like Medusa meets the Electric Chair. This was the beginning of my cruddy day...

Then I realized that I can't get online. Not good. Two of my three part time jobs rely on computer access. So I head to Starbuck's for free wifi. I worked there for 2 hours and then came home where I continued my miserable day.

I melted... no air, no fan. It was the upper 90's with no breeze.

I couldn't open the fridge to get a drink or food because I didn't want to let the cold out/heat in.

I realized every phone in my house runs on electric and my cell phone was (as usual) needing to be charged.

Yeah basically the day stunk and I do NOT know how the Amish do it.

As soon as the electric came back on I made a batch of this...

Shelly's Mochachinno Almond Protein Ice Cream

1 cup Vanilla Soy Milk (or Regular Milk)
1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder
1 scoop Click Espresso Protein Powder
1 Tablespoon Sugar Free Torani Syrup (I used SF White Chocolate)
2 Tablespoons Slivered Almonds, lightly toasted

Mix together milk, protein powders and syrup together. I used this gadget to mix it up. It makes it airy and lump free. Pour into ice cream maker. Follow your machine's instructions for freezing. 5 minutes before done add the nuts. You can eat it right away it is soft serve-ish but I like to put it in the freezer to set for an hour or so.

Note: If you don't have Click. Get some. It's seriously a must for coffee addicts. They are offering a deal buy 2 tubs, get free shaker and free shipping. Use promo code: OBH

Seriously you know I realized yesterday that I was a slave to technology. It's really bad. I need a few weeks in the mountains, catching fish and cooking it on an open fire. Which really does sound delightful... roaring camp fire, lawn chairs, starry skies, sipping cocoa (SF of course), I need someone to cuddle with and the picture is complete. :(

Highlights of the day:

* I bought a new coffee maker. It's a 12 cup. My little 4 cup was not cutting it. I know. I drink too much coffee. Don't follow my lead. I'm a bad, bad girl.

* I made a really yummy baking experiment this morning. Watch for the recipe and porn later in the day. It's a great breakfast item.

* It's the first week of school for a lot of kids... which made me nostalgic for school days but then I started to think of mean teachers, homework, fitting in, detention (I was a bad bad girl then too) and I realized I was really only nostalgic for a new outfit and freshly sharpened pencils ;)
